Fresh off from a great run in the recently-concluded 2023 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP), Jans “Graftekkel” Arends continued his grind at the virtual felt.

Managing to secure another huge victory, this time in the $5,200 Titans Event which ran over the weekend on PokerStars.

Arends closed his 2023 WCOOP campaign with one title, having won the $10,300 buy-in version of the Thursday Thrill for a cool $202,936 first-place prize. Just days after the conclusion of the series, the Austrian poker pro was back in online action and was part of a 62-entry field in the latest edition of the $5,200 Titans Event, widely considered one of PokerStars’ toughest tournaments.

 

Apart from Arends, other big names who reached the final table of the $5,200 Titans Event were Ole “wizowizo” Schemion and Dominik “Bounatriou” Nitsche, but unfortunately for the pair, they became the first two players to be eliminated, finishing 9th ($9,664) and 8th ($11,064) respectively.

Bruno “great dant” Volkmann ended his bid in 7th place for $14,773, followed by Andy “BowieEffect” Wilson who finished 6th for $19,723. GodOf.com and blowknockout claimed the 5th ($26,333) and 4th ($35,158) spots respectively, with heads-up play set following the elimination of FishOnHeater in 3rd place for $46,939).

Arends battled it out for the top prize against a familiar heads-up opponent, Brazil’s Felipe “ketzerfelipe” Ketzer. In the end, Arends dominated the one-on-one match, walking away with an $83,672 payout. Ketzer settled for 2nd place, taking home $62,670.

2023 has been a great year so far for Arends, with the poker pro claiming major victories both live and online tournaments, beginning with the Triton Poker Super High Roller Series in Vietnam back in March where he final-tabled two events – one of which he won – for a combined $1.3 million.

He followed that up with another massive win in the $100,000 High Roller 8-Handed event during the 2023 World Series of Poker (WSOP) live festival in Las Vegas, where he earned his second gold bracelet along with $2,576,729 in top prize, the largest score of his career. He also finished 3rd in the $50K High Roller 8-Handed event at the same series for $694,019.
