If you’re like many online poker players, you may have noticed that there’s been a little something missing from the world of online poker over the past few months. No, it’s not Full Tilt Poker (they’ve been gone for longer than that), but rather The Micros – the animated series that became so popular, it was even featured multiple times during ESPN’s World Series of Poker coverage.Over the last few months, the series had been on hiatus while creators John Wray and Jay Rosenkrantz looked for a new sponsor that would be able to help offset the cost of animating episodes. With no savior appearing, the two decided that switching formats might be a more productive route. The result is that The Micros will be returning soon: but as a web comic, not as an animated series. This will allow Wray and Rosenkrantz to share the adventures of Chase, Tommy and Rose as often as several times a week until a sponsor can be found to revive the animated version of the series. If you’re not familiar with The Micros, here’s what you need to know. The story follows Chase Berger – a microstakes online poker player – and two of his friends, Tommy Phuoc (an online grinder) and Rose Ballenger (a heads-up specialist and known maniac) as they navigate the world of poker. In the first episode, Chase puts his entire bankroll on the line and somehow manages to win a major online tournament, allowing them to play in big games and major tournaments around the world – with hilarious consequences, of course.Wray recently let fans know that he hopes to get back to making the animated series soon. In the meantime, he hopes, using the same cast of characters in web comic form should be enough to tide fans over. 5g43
