A recent story that was first covered by Poker Player Newspaper reported that Gabriel “Gabi” Campos Woslovsky was going to relieve himself of the position of PokerStars’ CEO. Currently there has been no word of who may be coming to fill in his shoes. 4g2q61
PokerNews is also following the story and a statement that they received from PokerStars read like this: “PokerStars announced today that Gabi Campos has decided to step down from his position as Chief Executive Officer, effective Feb. 1, 2012, to pursue other opportunities. The company thanks Gabi for his hard work and commitment and wishes him the best in all his future endeavors. A search for Gabi’s replacement is under way.”
Before venturing over to PokerStars, Campos had a position with 888, being the head of an site that was called Dragonsfish. After leaving 888 he was officially given the title of PokerStars CEO in July of 2010, but was not working the position until October 4th. Campos’ departure marks the third big name official leaving PokerStars in the past year. Last May, the now EPT director Thomas Kremser took off and more recently John Duthie ended both his role as CEO for the EPT as well as his time being a PokerStars pro player. There were no negative reasons for these gentlemen leaving, but rather all of them cited a need for new adventure as their reason for leaving.
PokerStars is the world’s largest and most popular poker site and averages over 25,000 cash games weekly. This impressive number is not even close to being replicated by PartyPoker who is currently the second largest poker room online.
