Jason Wheeler had a great year in 2011 and him being picked by Card Magazine to be named Online Player of the Year should come as no surprise. The player who finished second place in the voting, Mike Telker, had only 6,822 OPOY Points which is more than a thousand less than Wheeler, who finished the year with 8,076. If you think the margin of victory over the first place competitor is something, after second place, not one single player was even able to cross over the 6,000 point mark. There are some names down the table that do ring some bells, like the 7th place finisher Chris Moorman. Moorman won over $650,000 in 2011 and was a second place finished in the POY award that was eventually given to Ben Lamb. The accolades for the Lock Poker pro do not stop there because in this past year Moorman zoomed by the $7.5 million career mark. By the looks of it, Moorman and Wheeler are both going to continue their winning ways straight into the new year. This is the 6th year that the Online Player of the Year award is being given. It started back in 2006 and in the inaugural year Joseph Udine was lucky enough to receive the honor, very lucky considering he was competing against some of the biggest names in poker history that year. And like we said, more often than not this race is very tight and most people could imagine 2 or 3 different players being awarded, but this year Wheeler really ran away with it. No one was in the same league as Wheeler which is probably why most are not complaining about the winner, because it is evident that he deserved the honor. 91g73
